This period is the height of the grape-harvesting season, and many local wineries will gladly show you around and give you a sampling of their wares.
That is not all that Rochester NY has to offer either. About 8 miles to the southeast of the city lies the equally famous harbor to Erie Canal, which is located in Pittsford. Noteworthy for its historical significance, the harbor was one of the most active thoroughfares in the early part of the 19th century before the railroad system was established.
